Leader Spotlight: Matthew Brayman

Matthew was born and raised in Santa Monica, CA., and is one of five children. He married his wife, Stephanie, in July of 1995, and established their first home in the San Fernando Valley. They have two young children, Patrick and Kaitlyn. Matthew is currently a police officer with the Los Angeles Police Dept., and has been doing that since 2002. Prior to the LAPD, he was in Christian ministry for twelve years. The first 10 years he served on the staff at The Church On The Way in Van Nuys. During that time he learned a lot about life and ministry, serving closely with Pastor Jack Hayford. His responsibilities at the church included three years on the pastoral staff as the Director of Volunteer Ministries and Athletic & Recreation Ministries. After his time at The Church On The Way, he was asked to served as the Senior Pastor of a small church in the Topanga Canyon area, which he did for two years. Matthew has a Bachelor’s Degree in Theological Studies from The King’s College, in Van Nuys. He is an ordained minister with the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel, the denomination The Church On The Way is affiliated with.

Matthew has been an avid runner since he was 12 years old, and has run two marathons, with more planned in the future. His favorite thing to do is to spend time with his wife and children.
